Ms2 Boss Dmg And Melee Dmg


Hi guys, with 3.7's melee update, cyclone builds are very popular this league. Most of the cyclone players are using swords or axes, as a result, these endgame weapons are now pretty expensive and are somewhat hard to acquire.
Given how staves are still cheap this league, this build manages to be budget-friendly yet endgame viable. Can be used as a league starter.
Why use Staff? (besides being cost-efficient)
Because I can't afford Starforge. Staff has some very good crit nodes in the top-left side of the tree, with Slayer's new ascendancy Overwhelm, staves that only has 5% base crit chance will still crit very well. This also makes Disintegrator a very decent endgame weapon.
Another minor upside is endurance charges, with reliable melee crit chance, we can maintain 3 charges while mapping and bossing, extra tankiness.

Pure Phys - Impale Chance & Effect
With this build we'll get 90% impale chance and 78% increased impale effect from Imaple Support, Dread Banner and Swift Skewering. This makes a impale record around 18% phys dmg per stack, offering a multiplier close to 80% more.
Some math
(1+17.8%*5)*90% + 1*10% = 1.80
Realistically, it's will be lower since you won't have full stacks in the initial hits, and will not be able to expire all stacks before killing a boss.

Some of the effects aren't included in the PoB calculation, hence added a custom Jewel above Resolute Technique to calculate actual DPS.

Slayer Ascendancy Order
Overwhelm is good for staves that don't have the increase crit% mod, you can take other ascendancies if you are using a Hegemony's Era.

Raising damage is the way to go, if you know your enemy, you make sure it has enough HP to kill the enemy without dying. The best way to make a battle rex is to breed some lvl 250+ Rex with 100% imprint and then you and a tribe mate (on a lvl 250 L wyvern with 600% dmg) go and kill a couple of titanos, on 1.5x and with BOL you get arround 60.000 shared xp for killing 1 titano, repeat this 3. Ms2 Boss Dmg And Melee Dmg Build

I often find cool items that provide melee damage bonuses, e.g. +50% melee damage. I'd like to know the base of the melee damage calculations, '+50%' of what? It is easy to find this information on guns, it is written in their specifications, but where can I find this information about melee attacks? I get that projectile dps passives work.
I assume that 'increase melee physical damage' passives do NOT work because it is not melee.
What about: 'increased physical damage with __xyz__ melee weapons'? The one is worded differently as it id not 'melee physical' damage, but rather damage when using a given weapon type

Yes if your throwing an axe and have axe dmg passives they should work to add dmg to your proj..I cannot confirm this but in theory this is logical

Increased Projectile dmg nodes will add to damage.
Depending on the weapon damage type, increased physical damage and elemental dmg will add to dmg.
Increased Melee Physical damage will not work.
Increased projectile speed will work.
Increase attack speed will work.
Increase casting speed will not work.

So basicly avoid passives like: 'You do 14% more damage with one/Two handed melee attacks'
But passives like: 'Increases damage with swords' (if sword) works?
It is understandable how many people misunderstand this. I think Spectral throw could need abit more extended tooltip :)

My guess is that things like this are what they referred to when they said they wanted a Normal playthrough to Sceptre of God in order to unlock the Scion because it requires more experience with the game.

Scion is not forced to use spectral throw.
There's projectile damage nodes by Duelist and shadow, but there starting spell is double strike and cleave.
There's spell damage nodes by Ranger but there starting spell is burning arrow.
Scion can get Cleave as 1st gem choice, and Heavy strike or sweep as 2nd Gem choice.
Scion also has melee gem choices at almost every gem quest thereafter.

This guy has no clue the difference between melee physical and physical dmg most likely on the first time round..hell even the 4th even they don't read a lot. The fracking gem is not intuitive at all.shit a lot of gems aren't. Take fire trap for example.. fire fire fire..right? well not exactly.
I told that awesome story to say with the approach that they took.gating her so people would learn more..then hell why not connect her up with what works with the skill she arises from the brink of death.. I mean they did put a FLAT phys node oh.about what 4 points out. There is no need to make some of this shit so confusing like they do on some aspects of this game. That's all I'm sayin'.
